(TSI) (www.tsiconnections.com), a leading provider of mission critical business, technical and network solutions, announced today at CTIA Wireless 2002 that its INPositionSM wireless 9-1-1 solution will use MapInfo Corporation’s (Nasdaq:MAPS) MapInfo® PSAP ProTM E9-1-1, an enhanced 9-1-1 database. This Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) database will complement TSI’s INPosition wireless 9-1-1 service bureau solution by providing TSI’s mobile positioning center (MPC) with data and jurisdictional boundaries that significantly improve reliability of wireless 9-1-1 services and reduce emergency personnel response time. TSI is the first in the industry to use PSAP Pro E9-1-1 in a service bureau wireless 9-1-1 platform.

TSI’s INPosition wireless 9-1-1 offering automatically locates wireless 9-1-1 callers and routes them to the correct PSAP. The PSAP Pro E9-1-1 boundary database contains PSAP information for the United States and includes 10-digit emergency numbers, address information, administrative phone number, fax number, contact person, latitude and longitude and jurisdictional boundaries. The U.S. PSAP boundaries are based on the jurisdictional boundaries for PSAPs, not on telephone exchanges, ensuring that a wireless 9-1-1 call can be accurately routed to the appropriate PSAP based on the location of the caller. MapInfo’s PSAP Pro E9-1-1 database was developed with MapInfo’s long-time partner, Spatial Data, Inc. In the United States, the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA) indicates that on average more than 130,000 calls are made from wireless phones to emergency dispatch centers and police stations every day.
